Teton Sports sells canvas tents, including bell tents and a cabin tent called the Teton Sports Mesa (hands-on review).
Because many companies have headquarters in the U.S., there is often confusion on where their products are actually made (in the USA or overseas).
Where are Teton Sports Canvas Tents Made?
Teton Sports Canvas Tents are made in China.
I confirmed this on the packaging when I received my Teton Mesa Canvas Tent.
This applies to many canvas tent sellers, including Kodiak (China) and White Duck Outdoors (Pakistan). Springbar is the only springbar-style tent made in the U.S. (they also have an imported line).
The TETON Sports line of tents includes a10x10 and 10x14 canvas tent. Features a D-shaped door, but no real other differentiators.
Teton Sports Alternative Made in the USA?
Springbar is the original Springbar-style tent (hence the name), and they have a line of tents (Springbar USA) that are made in the U.S).
They also have a Chinese-manufactured line, but with better materials (metal stake loops) compared to the Teton Sports Mesa.
I wrote about the best canvas tents where I compare several brands of tents.
Does it Matter Where the Tent is Manufactured?
How and where a tent is manufactured can impact quality and design.
For example, here are the tent stakes provided by Teton Sports after 1 use. On the other hand, I have Springbar stakes that have 3+ years on them and look in better condition.
In addition, quality control will be much different in the U.S. factory vs a Chinese factory.
However, in reality, not everyone can afford a tent 3x the cost to support American manufacturing.
In addition, some imported tents can be better or better than some U.S.-made products. Experience over years of manufacturing may be more important in some cases than where it’s made.
Kodiak is a great alternative to Teton Sports with a few upgrades in quality (metal stake loops) at a similar price.
