Kodiak Canvas tents are great for 3-season+ tents. They are durable and comfortable, and many want to extend their camping season into the winter.
In my hands-on Kodiak Canvas Flex Bow review, I note that I love using it in the shoulder seasons and cooler weather. I then went down the rabbit hole of determining if I could add a stove jack.
Are Kodiak Tents Flame Retardant?
Kodiak Flex-Bow tents are not flame retardant and are not designed for having flames inside, including stoves. They do have two different cabin tents that are stove ready.
This is a good thing because fire retardant chemicals are harsh, and unnecessarily having them on your tent is bad.
Other tent manufacturers will put fire retardant materials or precautions where stoves are being used. If you want a flex-bow style tent stove ready, check out Springbar hot tents.
Although, there are people DIY-installing stove jacks into the flex bow.
In my experience, common sense goes a long way regarding fire and canvas tents.
Personally, I’ve used a Mr. Buddy Heater (how to heat a canvas tent) in my canvas tents, but I’m always in the tent and near it. I avoid leaving it on overnight or when I’m not in the tent. It should be clear, Kodiak does NOT recommend this. You are responsible for your own decisions.
Can You Put a Wood Stove in a Kodiak Canvas Tent?
Yes, the Kodiak 10×10 Cabin Lodge tent and the 12×12 Kodiak Cabin Lodge Tent are outfitted with wood stove jacks.
Those are the only 2 Kodiak tents that are stove ready and are designed to have them.
Do not put a stove in their Flex Blow line or other cabin tents.
