LiFePO4 has become the clear choice in power stations, and EcoFlow is one of the most popular and reliable brands.
Before I get into which EcoFlow has LiFePO4, I wanted to quick share this comparison chart I made.
As you can see, LiFePO4 power stations are typically the clear choice. There are times to go with an NMC, particularly when weight is an issue.
The primary benefit of NMC batteries is that they are lighter. However, most people won’t be carrying these long distances. And the really heavy ones have wheels and aren’t meant to be carried.
So, LiFePO4 has become increasingly popular as the longevity of the product beats out any weight advantages of NMC.
Which EcoFlow has LiFePO4?
The EcoFlow River 2 Series and Delta 2 Series use LiFePO4 batteries.
Below is a list showing EcoFlow’s LiFePO4 batteries with current reviews:
EcoFlow LiFePO4 Batteries
- The EcoFlow River 2 is great for 1 or 2 people on a casual weekend trip.
- Best for family weekend trips for charging multiple devices for several people.
- Great power station for powering larger gear like drones, cameras, laptops, etc.
- This is the size I use (with 2x 100W solar panels) for working off the grid.
- Powers 90% of appliances (1800W output)
- Expandable to 3000W with extra battery
- The Delta 2 Max is great for home backup, can run a fridge and other large appliances
- Can be expanded to 6kWh (From 2kWh)
- Best EcoFlow for emergency backup and major natural disasters and prepping.
- Can also be used for RV
- Some use it for a food truck
EcoFlow Power Stations with NMC Batteries (ie: Not LifePO4)
All of EcoFlow’s new products use LiFePO4 batteries. However, like many power station brands, their older models use NMC:
EcoFlow NMC Batteries
- RIVER
- RIVER Mini
- Delta Mini (882Wh)
- Delta (1024Wh and (1260Wh)
- Delta Max (2048Wh)
If you’re buying these, make sure you’re doing it for a specific reason (ie: it’s on sale).
EcoFlow River vs River 2 Comparison
The EcoFlow River was EcoFlow’s primary small power station until River 2.
The River had extra ports and higher surge. However, at that battery size, you probably aren’t charging 20 devices and trying to use high-powered tools on it.
The River 2 features a LiFePO4 battery and add USB-C charging. Both of these features are a must-have, in my opinion.
The River 2 is one of the best-selling portable power stations.
EcoFlow Delta vs Delta 2
The EcoFlow Delta was EcoFlow’s primary large power station offering until Delta 2.
The Delta used NMC battery technology and was a beast when introduced. However, the Delta 2 with its LiFePO4 battery and upgrade options makes it the clear choice.
EcoFlow Alternatives
EcoFlow is not the only power station company using LiFePO4 batteries.
